My name is Devon Stokes-Bennett and I teach the Futures Grade 10 cohort as well as being a technology curriculum coordinator for the district (which means I try to help teachers teach with technology).
I have taught senior humanities (English and Socials) for 7 years and I am most proud of having co-designed the Futures alternative cohort program at WestShore Centre. I have a B.A. in English Literature, a B.A. in Greek and Roman Studies, a B.Ed. in Education (Secondary Humanities) and I am currently working on my M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction through the University of Victoria with a focus on Digital Natives.
I absolutely love any type of story whether it’s a movie, a book or a history lesson. Right now I am infatuated with The Walking Dead series,Insurgent by Veronica Roth (Hunger Games was better though) and Westerns (I have no idea why). As to hobbies, I tend to get excited about everything so I end up trying lots of different stuff and never become an expert at any one thing (baseball, horseback riding, knitting, etc.).
I grew up moving around a lot but graduated high school in Powell River, B.C. and then went to UVic. I absolutely love teaching and couldn’t imagine doing anything else (where else do you get to have zombie wars?). I have a beautiful and amazing cat named Dora (yes, after Dora the Explorer-she explores) and a twin brother (sometimes he’s amazing, sometimes he’s annoying).
